Speakers will tackle issues they believe challenge women in leadership, and possible ways of overcoming these.

- Professor Frances Balkwill is a Professor of Cancer Biology at Barts Cancer Institute, where she leads the Centre for Cancer and Inflammation and the Cytokine and Cancer group. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and was awarded an OBE in 2008 in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. A well respected science communicator, she is the Director of Centre of the Cell, a biomedical education centre located within Barts.
- Bronia Szczygiel has a scientific research and development career spanning 17 years, and was a founding partner of Aspire Leadership. Aspire offer tailored ‘women in leadership’ and ‘women in management courses’. She has worked with clients in the public, private and third sector, across many different industries from the shop floor to board level.
WISE is an inclusive society aiming to provide information and a networking platform for those interested in female participation in science. We welcome men as well as women, and academics from undergraduate level to professors. WISE is looking to recruit members from medicine and dentistry at QMUL, and would like to welcome you to this event at the Charterhouse campus.
