The International Space Station is housing two women on long-term missions for only the second time in its 16-year history. Samantha Cristoforetti, who is also Italy’s first woman to go into space, joins Russian cosmonaut Elena Serova on the space station, where she will complete a five-month mission.
Fun facts: Samantha Cristoforetti took a specially adapted machine into space. Italian coffee makers Lavazza teamed up with space food specialist engineering firm Argotec to create a special and lightweight machine. She was travelling with Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov brought along 15 boxes of caviar.
