WISE@QMUL are delighted to host an evening talk and discussion with Amrita Ahluwalia at Charterhouse Square Campus. Amrita’s research focuses on new prevention therapies for hypertension, using dietary interventions as well as pharmacology. To support other women in the profession, Amrita established a Prize for Excellence in Pharmacology for Women and developed a mentoring scheme for the British Pharmacological Society. She is the first female recipient of the GlaxoSmithKline prize in clinical pharmacology and the Winner of the WISE 2015 research award.
Amrita will give us an overview of her career and research including aspects that relate to being a woman in science, for example balancing work and family.
After Amrita’s talk there will be a wine reception for some more open discussions.
We welcome both men and women, and academics from undergraduates to professors. Refreshments will be provided.
