23rd Mar 2010: Fellowships for women in science and engineering

Want to do academic research but need money? There is a drastic reduction in the number of female researchers that pursue academic careers in comparison with male researchers. The reasons are complicated, but include the biology of giving birth. There are fellowships and grants that encourage women to stay in research through funding opportunities.

4-6pm, Tuesday 23rd March in the Hub

Speakers: Dr. Ian Forristal (ESD) and Dr. Rachel Ashworth (SBCS).

In conjunction with the Research Fellowship Day on April 21, the talk will focus on fellowships that encourage women to pursue academic careers in science and engineering. Dr. Ian Forristal will discuss fellowship opportunities and Dr. Rachel Ashworth will also speak about her experiences as a BBSRC David Philips Fellow.

The talk will be of interest to current PhD students and research staff.
